M.E. (Foundry Engineering):
A Post-graduate program in Foundry Engineering from Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore, in 1963.
B.E. (Metallurgical
Engineering): A Graduate program in Metallurgy from Government College of
Engineering and Technology, Raipur, M.P. (affiliated to University of Saugor, Sagar M.P.)
in 1961.

Served M/s. Premier Automobiles Ltd.,
Mumbai, from 1982 to 1998 at various positions viz.: Plant Manager and Deputy General
Manager – incharge of their Automotive Foundry at Wadala, Mumbai. The Foundry was
manufacturing 450 M.T. of automotive castings comprising of Grey Iron, Ductile Iron,
Aluminum alloy and alloyed Cast Iron.
Was promoted to Engineering
Department as General Manager (Foundry Engineering and Development) and later on as
General Manager (Foundry Technology and Material Testing). The work at Wadala Factory
involved Methods, Planning, Manufacturing, Industrial Relations, Administration, Purchase,
Stores and Inventory-control and Accounts among others.
The work content as General
Manager in the Engineering Department comprised of Design, Development, Testing, &
Evolution of metallurgical parts, paints oils etc. used in automobiles. Also, the duties
involved technology upgradation of vendors, vendor development for production of quality
metallurgical components.
** Worked on the planning of a new foundry project
of PAL
** Worked in the JV project
PAL-Peugeot Limited, as incharge of vendor development – castings & forgings, for
a period of 2 years.
In connection with development of
various cast components & projects, visited prestigious casting units of M/s. Nissan
Motors, Japan, and M/s. Automobile Peugeot, France. Also visited foundries in Germany,
Switzerland, Singapore and the UK, among other places.
- Served M/s. Crescent Iron & Steel Corporation Limited [CISCO],
Mumbai ; a wholly owned subsidiary of M/s. Voltas Limited, producing iron castings from
1970 to 1980 as General Works Manager.
Job profile included production, production planning
& control, industrial relations, stores, purchase, sales, accounts, finance,
administration etc. Was unit head, reporting to the Group General Manager of the NEI Group
of Industries, held by M/s. Voltas Limited.
During tenure with CISCO, turned the company
around and wiped out all accumulated cash loss of the company. Negotiated & signed
three labour agreements with the trade unions on behalf of the company.
Served M/s. Himmat Steel Foundry Limited,
Raipur M.P. as Chief Metallurgist & Foundry Engineer for a period of 6 years from 1965
to 1970. Was assigned responsibilities of production planning and control, manufacturing,
quality control, industrial engineering etc.
- Served M/s. Sree Malleables Limited, now a fully owned subsidiary
of M/s. Hindustan Motors Limited, located at Rishra, Hooghly –West Bengal from
September 1963 to December 1964 , as Foundry Development Engineer & Shift
Superintendent of Foundry. Was instrumental in motivating work force to improve
productivity by 65% during the tenure.
